2011: Penang Trip

I suddenly had an idea to do a KK-Penang Trip.

Since we wouldn't be able to cover this trip with our 1st quarter travel in KL-SG. I thought to do one for KK and Penang.

Why Penang?
It has Georgetown, which seems like an old school town that we would enjoy visiting.

Plans for Penang

Item One: Get a KK to Penang Flight
According to a quick google search, the only way to transfer from one island to another is through air and It would be a given that the best airline to use is Air Asia.

Item Two: Stroll around Georgetown
GeorgeTown is a UNESCO Heritage Site. It preserves a british colony with Malay and Indian roots.

It's so old school. We will enjoy it there. As for the places we'll check out. I found a link that may be helpful.

Item Three: Penang Hill
Links say that it is one of the coolest place on Penang.

Seems like a nice place to go on a relaxing morning stroll. There is a funicular
train going up to the hill, which reminds me of the one in Tagaytay.

Also since it's a hill, we'd have a panoramic view of GeorgeTown.

Item Four: Kek Lok Si Temple

It is largest Buddhist Temple in Malaysia. Also known as "Temple of Supreme Bliss". Seems that there would be many things to see here.

Item Five: Thee Kong Tua

A temple across Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si Temple

Item Six: Wat Chayamangkalaram
A Siamese temple that houses the 14th largest reclining buddha. Originally created by a Thai monk for a british queen.

Across this temple is a Burmese temple, Dharmikarama Burmese Temple.

Item Seven: Snake Temple
The oldest temple in Penang.

Built for a monk who had healing powers and took care of snakes. This temple was created in his honor and to give honor to his spirits. They built shelter in the temple and never left.

Snakes are everywhere in this temple. They are said to have came in the temple in their own accord.

This certainly would be an interesting experience.

Item Seven: Butterfly Farm

I always wanted to enter a place and see many butterflies flying around me. I almost got at that place when we went to Sentosa but we came to the museum at the wrong time so the butterflies were hiding.

Lifetime: Always be healthy

At the beginning of this year 2010, I decided to seriously aim to lose weight...

Mostly because it has been my goal for a lot of years before this year and I always saw my self being healthy and growing old without any disease...

My grandfather had died of kidney, heart and other diseases. It was a sad time for us when he went to heaven and left us here. At that time, my father was diagnosed with diabetes and had a stroke. It was greatly a trying time. Good thing! We had passed that... My father is a healthy diabetic.. Also a big reason why most of the food at home lack taste..

That was an experience that impacted me greatly as I don't want to be in the same disposition. I want to die of old age, not of disease. I want to be able to have the option to eat cakes on special occasions.

So I started working out..

Google and You Tube was a great tool for me to get to know techniques on building muscles and losing fat. After 6 months, I now have a normal weight and body fat percentage of less than 20%. I also incurred a swimming hobby, which is a lot of fun and gave way for me to meet new friends..

In my lifetime, I want to be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle... which in theory should offer me a long life...
